Scorching success for Islington Fire Station open day

Islington Fire Station celebrated African and Caribbean culture at its Black History Month Open Day.

DJ Udaine spun the virtual records as delicious cuisine fuelled visitors ready to squirt hoses and explore a fire engine. There was plenty of live music from choirs and Djembe drum players as well as a cultural dance and fashion show.

Around £800 was raised for The Fire Fighters Charity and 30 people signed up to be stem cell donors for blood cancer and blood disorder charity ACLT, which ran an awareness drive at the event.
