Get ready for Safer Business Action Week this October
Sign up to a range of unmissable seminars in Angel as part of the national Safer Business Action Week initiative which launches on October 16.
Angel Islington BID along with the Met Police will be taking part in the action week to help tackle business crime in the area. There will be joint patrols taking place across the Angel as well as free seminars open to all levy payers designed to increase awareness and confidence in preventing crimes.
Seminars will include;
October 18 – 9.30am-12pm, ‘Designing out crime’
Location: Islington Square
Specialist officers from the Met police will present on what businesses can do to eliminate crime and how they can access specialist support. This session is suitable for all businesses.
October 19 – 2pm-4pm, ‘Vulnerability and preventing crime in licensed premises’
Location: Fox on the Green, 1 Islington Green, N1 2XA
Known as WAVE, and delivered by the Met police, this interactive session is designed to increase skills, knowledge and confidence to prevent and reduce sexual offences, injury and crime as well as identifying vulnerabilities of those visiting your premises. This session is suitable for all licensed businesses including pubs, bars, clubs, restaurants and hotels.
October 24 – 10am-12pm or 2pm-4pm, ‘Maximise safety and security in your business’
Location: Business Design Centre, 52 Upper Street, N1 0QH
The Met police will deliver the SCaN (See, Check and Notify) training package, which empowers staff to identify suspicious activity and know what to do if they encounter it. It will also help businesses prevent organisations or individuals intending to cause harm from getting the information they need to plan their actions. This session is suitable for all businesses.
The week will also include drop-in sessions with local policing teams so you can share the issues your business is facing.
