FURLOUGH LETTER TEMPLATE FOR BUSINESSES
If you are a business owner that is furloughing your staff as a result of COVID-19 it is important that you follow certain procedures to ensure you are abiding by employment law, whilst protecting yourself, your employees and your business.
One key aspect of ‘furloughing’ is the need to write to each employee being furloughed. MAKEUK (the Manufacturers’ Organisation) has produced a furlough letter template that is applicable to all business types. The template can be accessed from the MAKEUK website on this PAGE
When using the letter, please note that wording in square brackets will require tailoring to reflect your company’s approach. Some drafting notes in red text for your information are also included; these should be removed prior to sending this letter to employees. This letter is based on the official guidance available as of 24 March 2020.
