COVID-19 – New measures from Monday 14 Sept. including mandatory rules for businesses

11 September – On Wednesday 9 September, The Prime Minister announced new measures in England to help stop the spread of Coronavirus. Unless where stated, the new measures will come into force from Monday 14 September.

 

The new ‘Rule of Six’… what are the exceptions?

From Monday 14 Sept, it will be against the law to meet people you do not live with in a group larger than 6 (unless you are meeting as a household or support bubble). There are limited exceptions to this, including:

  • Wedding and civil partnership ceremonies and receptions, or for other religious life-cycle ceremonies – where up to 30 people will be able to attend
  • Organised indoor and outdoor sports, physical activity and exercise classes
  • For work, and voluntary or charitable services

Mandatory collection and storage of customer contact data to support NHS Test and Trace

From Friday 18 September, it will be mandatory for certain businesses to have a system to collect NHS Test and Trace data, and keep this for 21 days.

Core COVID-19 Secure requirements will be mandated for hospitality businesses, and egregious breaches enforced. To support businesses, the Govt has produced a ‘Customer Logging Toolkit’ – this can be downloaded HERE

 

Updated COVID-19 Secure Guidance for businesses

In line with yesterday’s announcement, the Govt has updated the suite of ‘COVID-19 Secure’ Guidance for businesses. The updated Guidance includes a new section “Priority actions to take to protect staff and clients / customers.”
