Angel images make Historic England archive
Four images by neighbourhood photographer Gary Williams have been selected for inclusion in Historic England’s photo archive. Gary’s shots of The Camden Head Pub, The Hovis sign above the Størksen shop, Sally from Arta’s Flowers, and the Old Queens Head pub, now sit within the Picturing High Streets national collection within the Historic England Archive.
Picturing High Streets was a three-year project to create a contemporary picture of England’s high streets through artist residencies and a public call out. From September 2022 to September 2023, people across England submitted their photos in response to themed fortnightly challenges. These created an unofficial archive, with a selection forming this permanent collection in the Historic England Archive.
Gary has been celebrating the people and places of Camden Passage for the last four years through his photography project ‘This is Camden Passage’. A book of highlights is planned for release later this year. You can follow his work on Instagram at @thisiscamdenpassage.
