African and Caribbean vendors sought for fire station open day

Islington Fire Station is looking for African and Caribbean businesses to be a part of its open day in October as part of Black History Month.

Black History Month, which celebrates the contribution of black people to British society, this year focuses on the wide-ranging achievements of black women, which are too often overlooked or forgotten. This year is also the 75th anniversary of Windrush.

Firefighters from the station in Upper Street are planning an event on Saturday, October 1, from noon to 5pm, and invite vendors to get in touch, including those for African or Caribbean food, sweets/cake, children’s face painting or other activities, a book stall, and social groups from the Afro-Caribbean community.

All vendors should have the relevant liability insurance and food safety certification. They are also asking vendors for a suggested donation of 5% of sales to the Fire Fighters Charity.
