Businesses proud to support Armed Forces Day
Everyone joined our local war veterans celebrating Armed Forces Day recently on Islington Green.
And not only were we delighted to support it, but enormously proud that angel.london businesses once again came up trumps with generous donations to enhance the day for everyone. For the fifth year running Waitrose in Liverpool Road gave flowers for the ceremony of remembrance, Bellanger brasserie served morning coffee and madeleines, and the Upper Street branch of Costa Coffee served afternoon tea and cakes. Meat People in Essex Road donated a dinner for two as the top raffle prize.
Says angel.london CEO Christine Lovett: “Veterans of all wars have given so much that we may enjoy the freedoms we have now. We appreciate them and are proud to support their celebration.”
The day featured a march past the green by local veterans and cadets groups, accompanied by The band of the Cinque Port of Drums. Floral tributes were laid in a ceremony at the war memorial.
